mysteries of the universe

Why is it that, whenever I sleep in, I'm more tired for the rest of the morning? Why is that, in winter, the school's air conditioning is on full blast but in summer we boil in our own sweat? (I bet you got a wonderful mental image there. You're welcome!) Is my laptop about to explode? (Judging from the clouds of smoke it's exuding, it's possible.) Why does 'defenestrated' sound so dirty?

I think my tanning/studying session (okay, mostly tanning... must look gorgeous for prom!) yesterday may have fried a couple of brain cells. (As well as leaving Sharpie all over me. Apparently it bleeds off plastic when hot... Note to self, don't put binders on legs unless you want vaguely obscene marks all over your legs.)  I've been writing  this entry for the better part of  an hour, and this is all I have. I keep getting distracted (MUTANT SQUIRREL!) by deep questions like: how can I work to achieve world peace?

....NO. IT'S ALL LIES! My actual thoughts: do I have split ends?  (Hard to tell with the blue.) Will the teacher notice if I take a nap? (The answer to that is yes and a ruler smacked across my head.) Does that girl have a bird nesting in her hair? (I think I can see a beak poking out...) Should I study bio or just watch Vampire Diaries for the 80935th time? (Priorities, priorities...)

I apologise for the uselessness of this post... to remedy it slightly, I will post this awesome song for you! (Mystery 18734- how many times can I listen to this song without my brain exploding?)

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

friends...

call you at two in the morning because they're hungry and they don't want to eat alone. (Midnight munchies!)

make fun of how old (...young) you look without getting beat up. (Watch out for my amazing ninja skills!)

understand what you mean when you say, "Oh, you know, that thing over there," and make vague waving motions. (Before accidentally thwacking them in the face.)

have impromptu dance parties in your basement. (I'M A HOT MESSSS AND I'M FALLING FOR YOUUUU!)

make you watch a movie with them, then talk the entire time. (Often I have to rewatch the movie the next day just because I get so confused.)

show up at your house while you're in pyjamas and immediately decide to put their pyjamas on too. (Pyjamas are the best. No contest.)

trust you when you say, "Eat this chocolate!" (And then don't kill you when it turns out to actually be cod liver oil pills.)

love you even when you look like this. (Note the horror movie lighting and frame...)

What do you think? Any other ideas for the list?

future scientist on the loose? nahhh

I posted a while back about how much I hated physics. So much work... I actually had to use my brain... who wants that? Looking pretty gets you much farther, right? So it's okay that I don't care, because as long as I know how to apply my blue mascara and smile I'll get everything I want.

(Kidding! It's such a lie! ...it's really my amazing fashion sense that'll get me somewhere in life.)

However, this morning, I was accidentally drawn into a discussion about it (It wasn't my fault, I swear! That's the last time I ask someone what they're reading...) and I was, to my surprise and horror, a tiny bit fascinated.

Did you know that particles actually have a wavelength? And that, at any given moment, a light particle has a fifty percent chance of being in one spot, but could also be in another? (Except it's not really fifty percent because of interference and frequency lines...) MIND. BLOWN.

I actually miss physics a little right now.

Confession: a tiny part of this... just a little squick... might be because it was a cute boy who was explaining all this to me. But just a minuscule photon-sized bit. And I definitely wasn't thinking this...

Nope. That thought did not cross my mind. At all. Not even at the speed of an electron.

Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday! Is anyone else intrigued by Physics now? Did anyone else actually know these things?

...is that normal?!

Hello lovely bloggers! I decided to join in on this linkup over at Chalk in the Rain! If you haven't already you should definitely check out her blog, it's very sweet and funny!

So, without further ado, here I go!

1. Is it normal to Google yourself? I must say I never do this. (Well, okay, I have once or twice... and discovered that 'I' am always blonde and generally a dancer or gymnast. A good sign, I think.) So.. well, apparently it's normal?

2. Is it normal to pretend you're stuck in traffic as an excuse for being late? I'm chronically early, so I really can't comment! (It's probably more normal than always hanging out alone for half an hour because you're so early...)

3. Is it normal to have told someone they have bad breath? Yes, as long as you offer them gum along with it... if maybe a bit brutal!

4. Is it normal to have worn the same undies 2 days in a row without washing them? NO! That is disgusting! If you have no clean underwear, wash them or wear a bikini bottom!

5. Is it normal to put baby powder in your hair to degrease? I use corn starch, personally, because I hate the smell of baby powder... but yes! It's just cheap dry shampoo, right?

6. Is it normal to accidentally send a nasty text/email to the person that it was about? I certainly hope not! Occasionally maybe... but if this is a regular occurence, is it really accidental? (And if you're the one always recieving these 'accidental' messages, it might be time to find some new friends...)

7. Is it normal to have lied to your doctor? Maybe not outright lied, but definitely stretched the truth a bit! (Otherwise appointments would go on FOREVER...)

8. Is it normal to go the whole week eating cereal for dinner? I don't know about normal, but I do know that some weeks I would love to do this! (Well, oatmeal. I'm not much of a cold cereal eater.)

9. Is it normal to pull clothes out of the dirty laundry to wear? ...I do this all the time. (After making sure they don't smell too bad... No one seems to have noticed yet!)

10. Is it normal to regift a wedding gift? Well, I'm not quite at that stage in my life yet... but it seems a little risky!

Well, that was fun! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Let me know if you did this- I'd love to read your responses!

cute little cats

Cats are just cute. It's a basic fact of life. So... when I saw this hoodie... I had to buy it. (Confession: I have wanted an animal ears hoodie for over a year. See: reasons why people think I am twelve.)

Also... watch this and tell me it isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen. Go on, I dare you.

Happy Wednesday! Hope this helped sustain you until the end of the week.

Oh, and I joined a wonderful linkup over at Jenny Matlock's blog! Go check it out here if you're interested, she posts plenty of Cute and Comforting posts!

i'm not really an awful person, i swear

Do people who tell long and pointless stories realise that they're being long and pointless? Are they just unable to read body language? A hint here, dearest readers: when your listener's are glazing over and there's drool on the corner of their lips, the story has gone on too long. (Either that, or they're a product of the upcoming zombie apocalypse.)

There are exactly eight days left of classes left. Now, there are many reasons to be excited by this (no more homework! Time to spend with friends! Time to... clean my room? No, let's not get carried away) but sometimes, the only reason I care about is that I will have almost TWO WHOLE MONTHS away from certain people. Now, I consider myself a fairly nice person. I listen to other people's boring stories, I smile and nod when what I really mean is "You're an idiot" and, let's not forget, I'm on Student Council. (If that isn't the action of a nice person, I don't know what is.)

However, there are just some people who rub me the wrong way. (Like sandpaper. Or steel wool. Or nails on a chalkboard.) Over the weekend, I think: ok. They can't really be that bad. I must be imagining this. Tomorrow, I'm sure we'll have a great time together! (The power of positive thinking, right?)

And then... I get to school and see them open their mouth (just like an alligator, prepared to bite off my ears with their stupidity) and my heart just drops. I can tell that they're about to brag (about themselves) or complain (about everyone else). Is it really any wonder that I want to smack them?

Eight. More. Days. Let the countdown begin.

Does anyone else feel like this about a specific person? Any tips on how to deal with them?

total and utter boredom

...is driving with your friends' mum for an hour to go pick them up, just because you have nothing else to do. (And then they made me listen to One Direction. Why.)

On another note, this is EXACTLY my feelings about Skrillex!

Let's just hope that I don't eventually get there with One Direction..
