Finally! It's Friday! We are no longer lost in the maze of the week!
Seriously. This week has not been a good one for mental clarity. So far I have
a) started eating dates because I thought they were chocolate chips (...)
b) forgotten to bring coffee (yes this is a serious deal)
c) been too lazy to do anything but read most of the time (although admittedly that's fairly frequent)
d) nearly been blown away in all the wind
e) worn a bandana (I can't decide if this was a clever fashion move or if I should be singing country songs)
...okay so maybe it was a fairly typical week. STILL. I appreciate the upcoming long weekend! (Thank you, Queen Victoria. However, although I have done the requisite readings about you- requisited by myself, actually, when I was going through my princess phase- I still don't know why we have a day off dedicated to your birthday... but I am still grateful.)
This weekend also marks my visit to... well, I'm not quite sure what to call it in English. French party camp? With lots of weird ceremonies (seriously, all these people are getting awards that I have never heard of.Why don't they just give me an award for my amazing Great Gatsby shirt?) and clapping (I actually hate clapping so much. How is loud, annoying noise supposed to mean congratulations?) and lots of packing...
But all the crazy dancing more than makes up for it!
Last year I had tons of fun, so let's hope that it's just as wonderful this year! I like to think I'm a better dancer now, so that might help. (However, I suspect it's just that I am better at lying to myself.) I also know how to do a messy bun, which should help disguise the sweatiness of my hair... gross, but useful... and I own actual workout shorts, so I don't have to wear pajamas! (...no of course I didn't do that last year, who wears short pajama shorts and pretends they're a dance outfit? -shifty eyes-)
Happy weekend, ninjas! (Even if you're not lucky enough to live here and have three days, muahaha)

the melody of falling leaves
...yeah, after these past few titles I think it's easy enough to tell that I love fall. I love the rich, vibrant reds, oranges and yellows... the crunch of leaves underfoot... the tiny chill in the air.... it's times like these that I feel truly lucky to live in Canada. (Just don't ask me when it's 20 below and my nose is dropping off.) Plus, today is Friday... so that's just a little extra boost. (Really all that means to me right now is that I work for two days straight... but whatever, I still haven't gotten out of the habit of excitement.)
So, to celebrate this lovely day, I decided to put together a playlist! (I'm currently at school, so I can't put up links... I'll do it as soon as I have a computer where Youtube isn't illegal.)
1. Red- Taylor Swift (What better way to start a fall playlist than with a song called Red?)
2. Seven Nation Army- The White Stripes (For some reason the boys at my school are obsessed with the guitar in this song, so listening to them play it, I've loved it for a while without ever knowing what it was called. In case this is your current situation, I'm sharing it!)
3. Black and Blue- Ingrid Michaelson (I sing these lyrics all the time. They just get stuck in my head... but they sound so sarcastic and, well... "Everybody knows that I'm a mess" is pretty accurate.)
4. This Kiss- Carly Rae Jepsen (Some nice pump-up music!)
5. Be Like You- Ed Sheeran (This song manages to sound both cheerful and melancholy at once. It's one of those songs that you're just tempted to sing to someone... or maybe that's just me.)
6. Hardest of Hearts- Florence + The Machine (They are, after Stars, my favourite band... she has such a gorgeous and powerful voice, and all the lyrics are so poetic.)
7. Ribbons- Ingrid Michaelson (I love the lyrics in this song too.. they're so full of imagery.)
8. Relax My Beloved- Alex Clare (This song makes my spine crawl. The combination of his voice and the dubstep-y music... mmmm.)
9. Turn Me Up- Carly Rae Jepsen (Looking at this and the other Carly Rae Jepsen song, I realise they don't fit with the tone of the rest of the playlist... but I like them, so I'll just ignore that fact! I suppose fall does have some 'heart-pumping' moments... like when you're on a Halloween ride and the guy with the chainsaw jumps out, OMG.)
10. Begin Again- Taylor Swift (This song is so sweet and soft... like a lullaby.)
11. Firefly- Ed Sheeran (This song also seems very 'fall' to me. I can just picture the fireflies winking through the dusk, fluttering through the leaves...)
And there we are! This is what I've been listening to lately. Do you like any of these artists? Do you have any suggestions for me? ...and even if you hated it, I'll wish you a happy Friday!

random ramblings
Because I'm already ready to go to bed, and rambling is just fun.
- Highlight of religion class: when one of the boys hot-glued beads to his nipples. (Not making this stuff up, guys. You'd think that someone who's in grade 12 would know better, but it seems not.)
- Of course, this same boy did hot-glue his own hair to his face last year in order to make a beard, so there we are. (What can I say, he's a real winner...)
- You know you're in Canada when it's September and the snow shovels are already on display. (The sad moment...)
- Picture day was yesterday, and was surprisingly non-painful... just until I remembered that we still need to get grad photos taken. Sigh.
- Chemistry is suprisingly cool. (Especially compared to physics... it's like the names say. Physics is like when you...ok, I have no idea where this metaphor is going and I think I'll just stop here before I dig myself too deep a hole.)
To finish, here are a few pictures I saw around the Interwebz that I thought were funny! (Good for a tiring, rainy Friday.)
...sad to say, but that's kinda my life.
...same. (Aka today.)
...wait. WHAT? That's right. It's a dog... but also two dogs... MIND BLOWN.
So yeah. I think I'm going to bed now. (It's 4:30, fyi.) Peace and love, baby ducks! (Which is a book that I have no interest in reading. I just like the title.)
