life lately...

I haven't done (anything) one of those "Currently..." style posts for a while (okay, I only did one once, so it's not like I've been neglecting a life essential, but still) so I thought I'd let you all know what's crack-a-lacking! (How do you spell that? More to the point, does anyone say that anymore?)

Listening to...

This song is just so cute and happy! (Plus, someone dressed as the Doctor makes an appearance. Obviously I'd like it.) I've also found myself strangely obsessed with everything Owl City... too cute. It's like a hug in music form.

Wishing... that I had gum. I really want gum. I also wanted gum yesterday, but we did not have any. THE SADNESS.

Drinking... matcha.

For those of you who don't spend over 2 hours browsing online tea sale sites, matcha is powdered green tea that you whisk into a froth and drink with milk... mmmm. It's very sweet and light, perfect even when it's hot out!

Feeling... terrified, traumatized, tired... why are there so many negative t words? This is the first time I'm mentioning it here, but on Monday I leave to go to Winnipeg for five weeks- I'm very excited about it, but it's bizarre to think that I'm going to be away for such a long time and then leave almost immediately after for university. Everything is happening so fast! (I say, reclining in the hammock and reading...)

Reading... the short stories of Fitzgerald.

So maybe I'm obsessed (and reading into them far too much) but I find their descriptions of evanescent beauty utterly relatable. I might not be pining over lost love but I still feel that sense of being a spectator in my own life that he manages to capture so well. (Can I just say I want to be him? Except minus the drinking and mental breakdowns?)

Wearing... My aviators. All three pairs.

And most definitely NOT my uniform. Goodbye, kilt of awkward lenght! Au revoir, polo tent! You, I will not miss.

Making... this exfoliant scrub from Under Peach Trees!

(her photo, not mine- I doubt mine will be that pretty!)

The idea of cleaning with chocolate and coffee just seemed so luscious that I couldn't resist. (Plus, one of the coffees we have is revolting and this seemed like a good opportunity to get rid of it!)

Watching... Blogilates videos.

DO IT. Right now. I dare you. It's only four minutes long... but it might kill your legs. (Hopefully it does because otherwise I will feel pathetic. Honestly, I'm not sure whether to find the thought that the only thing I'm even watching right now is exercise videos pathetic or not...)

So what's going on in your life?

in which I talk about how I did nothing

Welcome to this week's edition of... Friday Letters! Are you surprised that I'm actually doing a similar post two weeks in a row? To liven things up, let's guess why. Is it...
a) because I like doing this linkup? or...
b) because I have really done nothing this week that is noteworthy and so I resort to imaginary conversations for blog fodder?

Yeah so... it was mostly b). But this is fun!

Dear World: I'm sorry for doing absolutely nothing this week. I'll try harder next week. (...LIES.) But, as they say...

Dear Chemistry Test: why did you have to be right before lunch? I think I failed some of your questions just because I was thinking too much about food...

Dear The Office: ...why are you ruining my life. Seriously. Pam and Jim are the TV couple I have looked up to my entire childhood as an example of sanity and utter adorableness... they can't break up. I'm begging you.

Dear Jesse: thank you for making me laugh so hard with your latest tea video! And for making me feel that I was semi-having a conversation with you and so was only semi-pathetic and antisocial. (Semi is about as good as it gets.) Loveee youuu, tea/DW/loner/too-many-things-to-count-buddy!

Dear Healthy Brownies:

Thank you for being so delicious! When I eat you, I feel both satisfied and healthy... so yay! (The recipe can be found here- I would definitely recommend you try them!)

Dear Weather: make up your mind. Are you in a good mood? (aka sun and warmth) or a bad mood? (aka rain and wind) So far you seem to be tending towards the latter, but since YOU. CHANGE YOUR MIND. LIKE A GIRL. CHANGES CLOTHES (#retrosongmoment) I really can't tell what's going on.

Happy Friday, blog ninjas!

tea makes the world go 'round

...or at least my personal world. (At any given time, half of the dishes in our dishwasher are tea mugs/steeping balls/other tea paraphernalia. On another note, I had no idea "paraphernalia" was spelt that way. Rare are the words that elude me, but that managed to do it.)

This post is dedicated to Jesse, who turns 18 today! Happy birthday, bro, and have fun drinking (...tea?) for me!

First off: Coconut Oolong!

David's Tea's Spring Collection came out March 6th, and this was part of it. I love coconut... and creamy teas... so this looked wonderful! (One of their other new teas is called "Pom Tango". Every time I scroll by it quickly, I think it says "Porn Tango" and am just like... no, I did not just read that...)

Next up: Carrot Cake!

Cause let's face it... if there's 'cake' in the title, it must be good! (I wonder if you could add cream cheese icing on top?)

Next... homophone love, Coco Cocoa! (So it's not titled precisely that... but close enough. My version sounds cooler!)

Again with the coconut... and sweetness... I think it's evident what kind of flavours I like. (Seriously though. Calorie-free cocoa. And coconut.)

And, last but not least.... Strawberry Cuppa Chocolate.

(All of this company's teas seem to have 'cuppa' in the name. Is this some odd US thing that I should know about?) Since I can no longer find David's Tea Strawberry Shortcake tea (why do they discontinue all the teas I want. WHY DO YOU HATE ME WORLD???)  this one looks like a lovely substitute!

Plus, Em gave it to me as a birthday present. (Kinda.) So I'd better like it, right? (Love you forever for offering this to me, Em! Or maybe just hate you because now I want it... so yeah...)

Last comment, on friends giving me strange but lovely gifts (I can tie anything together): according to this Time Lord Namer, (shown to me by Jesse- happy birthday again, bro!) I am now to be known as... The Xenobiologist.

I have no idea what that is.

But it sounds cool, so all is well.

EDIT: omg, just looked it up, and it's a scientist who studies/speculates on alien life forms.

Coolness factor= infinity.

zia vs. the world

...just accept that I'll probably be right and accept this as truth, kayy?

1) Our Perfect Mistake by The Wombats is a great song to go running to

2) Treadmills are hateful nuisances

3) There are too many good TV shows out there, they're taking over my life (New Girl, Vampire Diaries... Doctor Who, Bomb Girls... Sherlock, The Office... sighh)

4) As is Goodreads (it's like an online bookstore except I can't spend any money, what's not to love)

5) Life would be better if I could carry my tea/coffee/hot chocolate around everywhere

6) Before transitioning from a cute child into a semi-rational human being, everyone goes through this amoeba state in grades 6-8 (and some people never leave it)

7) Instead of better bombs, someone should invent calorie-free chocolate

8) Lana Del Rey has lovely songs and also bizarre ones

9) Peplum shirts and dresses are not flattering on anyone

10) Leggings are stylish and comfortable, what's not to love

11) These teas are possibly the best thing in my life right now

Merry Cranberry. It's like drinking winter; spicy and sweet and oh-so-nice.

Birthday Cake. It has sprinkles and ice cream. I don't think any other explanation is needed.

Forever Nuts. It's pink. Again, what else to say? (I reviewed it here!)

forever nutty

As promised, here's my latest tea review! (Plus the beauteous sweater. LOVE.)

Hope you enjoyed it! Are you tempted to go drink tea now? (You'd better be.)

my first tea review/vlog

Here begins my journey into the world of vlogging and tea reviews! (Okay, you probably got that from the title... still.) A big thank you to Jesse for giving me the idea!

Thoughts:

1) I wanted to cut it but had no video editing software... I apologise for the length and the random moments of confusion.
2) It wouldn't me change the thumbnail. What is up with the picture it chose? I look like a constipated cow or something...
3) There's this huge delay between my voice and my actions... I'm not actually that spastic.
4) Ok, I had more but now I can't remember what they were so never mind.

What did you think of it? Any suggestions or comments?

ALSO: I now reply to comments via email (... usually about three weeks later...) unless you're a non-reply blogger, in which case I will reply on my blog. (Just a little head's up.)
